in Cyberspace. Sincerity is very rare

Honesty is a rare thing when someone makes a communication in cyberspace, whether through email or even chat rooms. The majority of the Internet communications users say they are more honest when talk directly or face to face.

"What is interesting is mostly people lie more often when to communicate online," said Mattitiyahu Zimbler, senior researcher from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

In his research, Zimbler involves 220 students and asked them to communicate with person same gender for 15 minutes. The communication conducted through email, instant message, or in person.

The study participants introduce themselves respectively and recorded their conversation. Then the researchers asked participants to see transcripts of the conversation and note any contents perbicaraan dishonest.

The researchers discovered in 15 minutes on average 1.5 times the participants lied. The spoken lie is still relatively minor, even as it caused forgotten.

The researchers concluded that people lie most frequently in email, then in second place in the chatting facility, and the last time to speak directly.

"The farther they are away with people, either physical or psychological, the greater the risks to lie," said Zimbler. Even thought when the electronic mail that was sent to people at long distances they are more frequently they are not honest.

"When sending email we do not need to worry about the specific rules, so feel free to lie," he said.

Conversely, when met face to face, it is very difficult to hide the truth.
